This is an unpaid position, but eligible for college credit. Candidates must work with their adviser and college to ensure internship will provide college credit.

Overview 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Assist FWBS staff with summer education programs 
  • Design and lead interpretive programs for kids
  • Assist with public events 
  • General office duties 
  • Develop educational materials and curriculum 
  • Special Projects — including creating videos for Garden Marketing 

Time Commitment & Schedule 

Monday-Wednesday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

Thursday 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Skills & Background Requirements 

An ideal environmental education intern will enjoy working with children, have strong communication skills, and have an engaging personality.

Having or working towards a degree or certification is required.

Experience outside of a classroom/academic setting will be considered in selecting interns.

Must be able to work outside in all conditions and participate in physical activities, such as guiding children through the grounds, games with kids and various types of labor.

Measure of Success (Evaluation Criteria)

Interns will be given verbal feedback throughout the internship as well as written mid-summer and end-of-summer evaluations.

Monday-Friday 7:30 am-4:00 pm 

Skills & Background Requirements 

Having or working towards a degree or certification in Horticulture or a science field is desired, but not required. 

Experience outside of a classroom/academic setting will be considered in a selecting interns.

Must be able to work outside in all conditions and participate in physical labor.
