Over
12,000 live tropical butterflies from Central America
and Southeast Asia will flutter throughout the Fort
Worth Botanic Garden’s conservatory during the
entire month of March. One of the most colorful species
is the blue morpho, whose colors range from an iridescent
turquoise to royal blue. A new species that will be
offered during this exhibit is one called birdwings;
wingspans are 13-15cm for males and up to 18cm for females.
Visitors can also learn about the life cycle of butterflies
and observe butterflies emerging from chrysalises. Butterflies
in the Garden will also feature an interactive exhibit
entitled Partners in Pollination that will be on display
in the Garden Center’s hallway. This fascinating
exhibit showcases the vital role different animals play
in the pollination of many plants, including important
food crops.
